This farm is a North Carolina Century Farm. It has been passed from one Peterson generation to the next...for over a hundred years, with the generations maintaining the land in continuous agriculture production.
Even today, our expectation is that each generation maintain and improve the practices of the farm, install systems that are current and practical, and sustain the farm as farmland and woodland.
Our charge, as stated above, has been the goal of many small farmers across North Carolina. Yet for several decades the reality is: North Carolina is losing its small farms at a rapid clip in spite of good intentions. Help us sustain farmland here in North Carolina by supporting us and becoming a farm member.
This farm requires necessary and valuable contributions of effort and resources on a daily basis. In exchange for contribution, we expect a reasonable return. Even though we seek economic viability, we do so only while adhering to good husbandry and animal welfare practices, enhancing the biodiversity and nutrient density of the soil, respecting the wildlife within the boundaries of the farm, being fair to staff, and offering the public an exceptional product. Farming with integrity: I do believe this is possible.
